Carol Trevarton
I’ve always loved art, though didn’t take the subject at school. My early career was in magazine production where I worked as a sub-editor and photo editor. It was only when our children were small that I first considered learning to draw. I signed up for evening classes, and then studied for an HND in Fine Art at Bournemouth University (Arts Institute). I also took classes in life drawing and portraiture, as well as learning computer skills such as desktop publishing and photo editing.
I like to work in watercolour. I love its expressive, unpredictable nature and the way it lies flat on the paper without any kind of texture. I try to convey a feeling in my paintings rather than precise detail.
Watercolour is also easy to carry outdoors where I like using pen and wash. Summer outings with BAS are always a pleasure with plenty of time for drawing, painting and just observing.
