Lee James
I was fortunate to spend 10 formative years in Brighton, several of these at the Art College. This grounding gave me not only a lifelong love of Café culture but also a respect for the edgy side of life, it’s people and cities. It wasn’t till early retirement that I was able to take my own art seriously using sketchbooks, photos and reflections from travel and career.
I’m drawn to the work of Marc Chagall, Kandinsky and Gorky, all of whom demand a strong spiritual resonance with the viewer.
My eclectic style ranges from using drawing to heavily impasto acrylic paint embedded often with ‘found objects’. I hope that anyone viewing the paintings will find his own story within the work and enjoy the journey.
